Today's Verse

Isaiah 40:28-31 in KJV, NKJV, NIV, ERV

Bible version changes do not affect the Key audio or "Today's Key Verse," below.

“I’m tired from all this walking,” Caleb groaned. He was hiking with his family in the mountains of British Columbia in Canada. “I’m ready for a break.”

“Don’t worry, we’re almost at the lookout,” Caleb’s mom announced.

In a few minutes, the family reached a platform that looked out over the forested valley. “We can see everything from up here!” Dad exclaimed.

Suddenly Caleb spotted a group of huge birds with white heads perched in a pine tree. “Look!” Caleb shouted and pointed to the tree. “There are bald eagles in that tree! A whole family of them!”

“Those are impressive birds,” his dad agreed.

Mom pointed to a sign on the railing of the platform. “There’s a sign with facts about the eagles.” She began to read aloud. “Did you know that when a bald eagle stretches out its wings, the distance from one wingtip to the other can be more than two meters wide? That’s over seven feet!”

“Wow, that’s huge!” Caleb grinned and stretched out his arms. “My wingspan isn’t even close to that.”

Mom continued reading the sign. “It says here that eagles can fly for hours without having to land and rest.”

“That’s crazy,” Caleb said. “How can eagles fly for that long without getting tired?”

“The eagles don’t just fly, they soar,” Mom explained. “When they soar, they rely on the wind currents and let the wind carry them.” She paused, thinking. “You know, it reminds me of one of my favorite Bible passages in Isaiah. It says that even young people get tired.”

“Yeah, I definitely do!” Caleb agreed. “I’m tired after that long hike.”

Mom continued, “But those who put their hope in Jesus and trust in Him will find strength in Him so they can soar like eagles without being tired.”

“And that’s more than just strength to go for a long walk,” Dad added. “When we trust in Jesus and remember how He saved us from our sins and gave us a future with Him and eternal life, we have hope and strength to persevere through any challenge in life.”

“Wow,” Caleb said. “That’s even better than being able to fly like eagles.”
