Today's Verse

Titus 3:1-8 in KJV, NKJV, NIV, ERV

Bible version changes do not affect the Key audio or "Today's Key Verse," below.

“Thanks, Anya,” Naomi said when she opened the birthday present from her sister. “A diary. I love it!”

“Read your book to me!” said Naomi’s little brother, Micah.

Naomi laughed. “I can’t—the pages are all empty.” She flipped through them so he could see. “This is a book for me to write down everything that happens.”

Micah looked at the blank pages, then back at his sister. “Write down that I cut my finger,” he said. “And that I got a new truck.”

Naomi grinned. “I’m supposed to write what happens in my life, Micah, not yours. But I suppose I can mention your truck and sore finger.”

“What else will you write?” asked Micah.

Naomi shrugged. “The things I do, how I feel, that kind of thing. Then when I’m older, I’ll be able to read my diary and remember what happened in my life.”

“But what if you don’t like what happened in your life?” Micah asked.

Naomi grinned. “Then I’ll rip those pages right out of the book!”

“You know,” said Dad, “in a way, our lives are like books. Each moment is like an empty page, and all the things we’ve done fill up the pages before it.”

“And some of the things written on those pages are things we’d rather forget,” said Mom. “Times we sinned or could have shown God’s love to others, but didn’t.”

“But we can’t ever tear any pages out of our life-book, can we?” asked Anya.

“We can’t,” said Dad, “but Jesus can! We’re all sinners, and we’ve all had pages in our life-books that had bad things on them, like sinful actions or selfish desires. But because we trust in Jesus, He rips out all the bad pages of our lives—all the times we sinned or acted on behalf of ourselves instead of Him.”

Mom nodded. “But all the pages that record the times we followed His leading and did what was right stay in our life-book—and really, it’s only because of Jesus that we can do any good at all. So let’s depend on Him to fill our lives with good things, knowing that all the great things He’s done for us will be written on the pages of our lives forever!” – Hazel W. Marett

How about you?

What have you written on the pages of your life? When you look back, there are probably pages you regret because of sin or times you didn’t do what God wanted. Guess what? If you trust in Jesus, He’s already ripped those pages out! He’s forgiven you for all your sins and won’t ever hold them against you. He’s rewriting the pages of your life as a testimony for all the great things He’s done for you.
