Today's Verse

Psalm 119:124-130 in KJV, NKJV, NIV, ERV

Bible version changes do not affect the Key audio or "Today's Key Verse," below.

“Look, Aria!” Ian pointed out the window. “We’re in the clouds!”

Aria looked out the window of the airplane and saw wispy white strands floating by. “We sure are!” she said.

Ian’s happy grin turned into an anxious frown. “We won’t get lost, will we?” he asked. “The pilot can’t see where we’re going. What if we run into a bad storm?”

Aria smiled at her little brother. “Don’t worry, Ian. The plane has instruments to help the pilot. And it has something called radar. I can’t explain how it works, but it guides the pilot and helps him know where he should go to keep away from bad storms.”

“Oh! That’s good.” Ian was grinning again as he turned back to the window. “I like to watch the clouds go by.”

Aria returned to what she had been doing. She held a stack of lined cards. On the front of each one was a Bible verse, and on the back was the reference. She would read a card and then try to recite the verse without looking at the words on the card.

“Aria?” Ian interrupted her again. “What are you doing?”

“I’m learning Bible verses,” Aria answered, showing Ian the cards. “Knowing verses helps me. I just told you how this plane has radar to help the pilot find his way, even through clouds and darkness—remember?” Ian nodded. “Well, by memorizing Bible verses, I put pieces of God’s Word in here.” She pointed to her head. “That helps me—sort of like radar. Even when things get foggy or dark in my mind or in my life, God’s Word reminds me that Jesus is with me. It helps me trust Him to lead me the way He wants me to go.”

“Oh.” A moment later, Ian had another question. “Aria, can your radar find my shoes?”

Aria looked down at Ian’s feet and saw that both his shoes were gone. She laughed. “I think I can do that without radar,” she said. She released her seatbelt so she could search for Ian’s shoes under the seats. Bob Hostetler

How about you?

Do you memorize Bible verses? It’s a great thing to do. If you have God’s Word in your memory, He will often bring to mind a verse when you’re in a difficult situation. Whether you’re sad, scared, or not sure what the right thing to do is, God wants to speak to you through His Word and remind you that He’s with you. Let Him use verses to comfort you and help you make the right decision.
