A Happy Reunion
“I can hardly believe we’re moving back to Thomasville tomorrow!” said Mallory. “I can’t wait!”
Aubrey nodded. “It seems like ages, not just a year, since we moved here so Dad could get the special training he needed for his job. It will be so much fun to see all my old friends again.”
“Until this year, Jorry and I were in the same room in every grade since kindergarten,” said Mallory. “Do you think I’ll get to be in her room again when we’re back in Thomasville, Mom?”
“I don’t know,” said Mom. “Maybe.”
“I hope I get a nice teacher like Mrs. Hunt,” said Aubrey. “I liked her so much! I’m sad to have to leave Jasmine and Nicole from my school here though. They’re good friends too—but not as good as Kalina and Ellery back home.”
“I’m excited to see my own friends back home too,” Mom said. “It will be kind of like a reunion, won’t it? A few weeks ago, Pastor Burns talked about a different reunion. Do you remember that?”
Mallory and Aubrey shook their heads. “What reunion was that?” Mallory asked.
“He talked about Jesus coming again and about how all Christians will be together in heaven with Him,” Mom replied.
“Oh yeah, I remember now,” said Mallory.
“It just doesn’t seem as real as getting back together with everybody in Thomasville,” Aubrey said hesitantly.
“But it is real,” said Mom, “and it will be a celebration and reunion much greater than what we’ll have in Thomasville. Christian friends we haven’t seen in a long time will be in there.”
“Yeah, and we’ll be with all the Christians who lived years ago before we were even born, won’t we?” asked Mallory.
“And even those from Bible times—like Abraham and the apostle Paul!” Aubrey added.
“Yes,” said Mom, “and best of all, we’ll get to see our Savior, Jesus, and live with Him forever.” -Beverly McClain
How about you?
Have you been excited when you were going to see old friends? Maybe in the fall when school was about to begin, or perhaps when a favorite friend or relative from far away was coming to visit? Getting together with friends you haven’t seen in a long time is fun, but it will be even more wonderful when all God’s children are together forever in heaven. And meeting Jesus face-to-face will be the best of all.
