Today’s Story
Is it true? Can it be? Monica Richter for Mayor?! With no one opposing her, it seems she’s
a shoe-in for the job. Will this be
the end of Coleraine as we know it, or will John Morrison take the advice of so
many friends (not to mention his own family) and throw his hat in the ring? And how will Tim learn the importance of
doing SOMETHING when others do NOTHING?
How about
you…
Have you ever
noticed a need to do something good when no one else seems willing to do
it? Were you afraid to be the only
one to do the right thing?
Check this
out…
If you’re at all familiar
with the Old Testament book of Esther, you know it’s all about doing the right
thing when no one else is able to.
If you’ve never read it before, do yourself a favor and check it out
sometime. When you do, look for
this verse that really summarizes the whole story (here’s a hint: it’s in the
fourth chapter). It’s something
that the main character, Esther’s uncle Mordecai says to
her…
And who knows but that you have come to
royal position for such a time as this?
See, the Jewish people were in jeopardy of being wiped out by the people of Persia and the only one who could do anything about it was a young Jewish girl named Esther who had been taken to be the wife of King Xerxes—the most powerful man in the world. Because of her Uncle’s encouragement and prayers, Esther found the courage to expose the plot and save her people. And because of his unique position as uncle to the queen, Mordecai was able to do HIS part too. And God blessed him for it. Look at how the book of Esther ends…
Mordecai the Jew was second in rank to King
Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow
Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare
of all the Jews.
