Check This Out…
Jesus not only cares about what you are going through, he is the source of all peace and comfort in the middle of it all. Matthew 6:26 tells us to look at the birds of the air who don’t even have a permanent place to call home, and yet the Lord takes care of them:
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Mary struggled in this episode to trust a Loving Creator, and instead focused on her problems. She not only didn’t ask God initially what he thought about moving away from Gilead Lane, she wasn’t giving God the ability to take away her anxious thoughts about the future. What she didn’t realize is that he wanted to.
1 Peter 5:7 says:
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
God cares about you, and he wants to hold all of your problems, pains and worries about the future in his mighty hand. Why don’t we give up the struggle against trying to figure it out on our own and surrender our future to the only One who has the whole world—Gilead Lane included— in his hands?
