Today’s Story

It’s another trip to Peru!  This time Tom and Maya Richter head to the jungle for the dedication ceremony of Robert and Tracy’s new orphanage building.  When they have their eyes opened and realize how different things can be outside of their lives in Coleraine, it really has an effect on them.  What will they do?

How about you…

What would YOU do if you found out about and maybe even spent time with people who barely had enough to eat and little more than rags to wear?

Check this out…

Sometimes we find that we can help meet the needs of those who have very few possessions.  And sometimes they can be used to meet OUR needs.  Different kinds of needs, of course.  Maybe they have physical needs we can help with, but what about spiritual needs?  God wants us to put our focus on Him and trust Him and serve Him alone.  Sometimes believers who don’t have much, who live one day at a time, have learned the secret of trusting God, and that’s something we can learn from them!  Look at this verse in the first chapter of James:

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Of course we should be helping those who don’t have much with their physical needs, but maybe they can help US  to see what it looks like to keep from being “polluted by the world”.
