Today’s Story
Haley's ready to hit the hay at a girl's-only sleepover, but not before her friends decide to watch a little shock theatre. Even from underneath her blanket (and from inside the bathroom), Haley is caught up in the suspense of the horror movie. But the next day, her life becomes a living nightmare!
Haley knew her parents had forbid her to watch scary movies! But it's hard to say "no" when everyone else is doing it…Right?
HOW ABOUT YOU…Think of the last time you couldn't say "NO" to something you knew was bad or wrong, just because your friends said to try it.
CHECK THIS OUT…With the help of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard what has been entrusted to you (2 Timothy 1:14). If you know Christ as your Savior, you know great joy comes from serving and trusting Him—even if it's hard when your friends are saying, "C'mon! What's the big deal?"
Remember this: there is another who is with you always that will help you resist temptation—the Holy Spirit. Through the Spirit, God can strengthen and protect you from what you know is wrong.
The next time you're in a pressure situation that might cause you to stumble,
be silent for a second and just listen. The Holy Spirit will help you make the
right decision to honor "what has been entrusted to you," which is
your faith and hope in Christ Jesus.
