Today’s Story

They used to be best friends! Now they hang out with totally opposite kinds of people. And it's going to take some courage for Brooke to move towards her old friend Becca Taylor who's been feeling sad since her mom left.
It's the Annual Fall Festival and Brooke reaches out to Becca, whose "friends" sometimes make her feel even more alone…

HOW ABOUT YOU…Do you have any friends who seem to have forgotten all about you—maybe even about God—and are instead spending time with kids who are a bad influence on them? Do you feel like just forgetting about them, too? Is it hard to risk reaching out to them? What if they hurt you more?

CHECK THIS OUTA man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).
This verse can help us understand how dangerous 'cliques' can be, and the value of being a good friend!

Many of you are at an age where pain and heartbreak can drive you to spending time with other kids who are hurting. Groups of kids can form around this shared feeling of "not fitting in" and not caring. This attitude is reflected by the way the group dresses, the music they listen to and the choices they make.

Brooke Morrison and Becca Taylor used to be best friends when they were little. But, after her mom went away, Becca started hanging out with a different group of kids. Brooke used the annual Fall Festival as an opportunity to let her old friend know she understood her life was painful without her mom around.

Even though she got the brush off by Becca a few times, Brooke kept looking for ways to share God's never ending love with her childhood friend.

Pray and, if you want, write us if you need encouragement to reach out to a friend whose pain is leading them to make bad choices. And trust in God's leading that YOU could be the "friend who sticks closer than a brother."
