Check This Out…
Being a person of integrity (or honesty) is not an easy task. We are constantly bombarded with pressures from society to be and do and say things that go against what we believe. Our words can especially be a difficult place to reign into that place of honesty.
James 3:8 says, No one can tame the tongue. It is an uncontrollable evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it breaks out into curses against those who have been made in the image of God. Making our tongues or words glorify God and lift up other people is hard.
But earlier in the chapter, in James 3:2, James says, We all make many mistakes, but those who control their tongues can also control themselves in every other way. If we start with our words and learn to control them to lift up God and others, according to the Bible, we will be able to control every other part of our lives.
John Morrison in today’s episode works on following God with both his words and in his actions as he tries to do the right thing concerning the death of Tom Richter. We would do well to follow his example and the words of James to try to become more like Christ through controlling our tongues and therefore controlling how we live for God in all ways.
