Today’s Story

Family vacations always seem to offer that much needed family time. However, John Morrison just doesn’t seem to be able to get face-time with his son, Mike, on this vacation. It’s a story about making time for those you love on this cliff-defying Down Gilead Lane.

How about you…
Is it ever hard for you to make time for the One who loves you most?

Check this out…
Sometimes life has a way of whisking time away from you. Between school work, chores, friends and the Internet, suddenly the hours are just simply not there. In this fill-up-your life world, it’s easy to let things like spending time with the Lord simply get squeezed out of your schedule.

Similarly, in this episode, Mr. Morrison desperately tries to spend some quality time with his second-oldest son, Michael. But it seems like every time he sets something up with Mike, Mike ends up having other plans to hang out with his camp friends. After a while, Mr. Morrison ends up going off on his own without his son’s company.

Like John Morrison, Jesus desperately wants to spend time with us. It’s not to just tell us everything we are doing wrong, or because if we don’t, we will get in trouble, it’s because he loves us so much. Mr. Morrison really loved Mike and really wanted to just be with him. Jesus wants to just be with us too. But what’s great about the Lord and is that Jesus will never leave us.

God said this to Joshua in Deuteronomy 31: Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Jesus wants to hear from us, and share with us what he thinks. Ever wonder what the plan for your life is? God knows. Do you ever wish you had someone with whom you could share your deepest secrets? Jesus wants to hear those secrets.

But in order for you to get to that level, you have to start talking to Him. And in order to start talking, you need to make some real time. So turn off the TV, get your homework done, and crack open the Word to hear and begin communicating with the One you loves you most.
