Down Gilead Lane, Season 6 | Episode 1
DEAL WITH IT
Season Description
When a new star quarterback comes to town, the Richters feel threatened. What they don’t see coming is an unlikely friendship that turns the threat into answered prayer.
Today’s Story
Deal with it As
Michael is challenged by dad to “play by the rules” unlike Mr. Richter’s “pull
whatever strings you have to” approach to life, he begins to lose his trust in
God. Meanwhile, still struggling
with the pain of losing his mom, Luke Taylor tries to keep himself busy at the
store and withdraws from his friends, dad
and God, so he won’t have to deal with or think about his
sadness. How about
you… When
life gets hard, sad or painful, are you tempted to “deal with it” by avoiding
friends and family, forcing things to work out your way or stuffing the feelings
deep down inside? Check this
out… Take
a look through the books of Psalms and Proverbs in the Bible, and look for the
word “trust”. You may be surprised
at the amount of importance God puts on trusting Him alone. What does it mean to trust Him
alone? Well, you can’t trust Him
ALONE, if you are ALSO putting your trust in your own power (like Luke) or the
power of seemingly powerful men (like Mikey). Remember, God is trustworthy! The Bible says, “My salvation and my
honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. (Psalm
62:7-8)
