Today’s Story

The polls are looking good for Judge Morrison for mayor of Coleraine, so the Monica Richter Propaganda machine “spins” into action—making John look like the bad guy and herself the hero.  Could there be a silver lining to these dark clouds?  When popular opinion is UP and DOWN, where can we put our hope?

How about you…

Have you ever felt popular and on top of the world one minute and friendless and alone the next?  Was it because someone else spread false rumors about you?

Check this out…

At the beginning of his letter to the Galatians, the apostle Paul had to remind his readers that he was not too concerned what people thought of him compared to what God thought of him…

Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

This is such a good reminder of what our attitudes should be like when we feel tempted to believe that the most important thing is what people think of us.  This will cause us to do and say what the person next to us wants us to do and say just to please them, and that can be very dangerous.  At the same time, it DOESN’T mean its ok to act like a jerk and then say, “oh well, I don’t really care what that person thinks of me anyway.”  No, God calls us to be a “servant of Christ” as Paul puts it.  And to do that, we have to love and be a servant of those people around us—not necessarily doing or saying everything that they want, or even everything that WE want, but what’s best for them and what Jesus wants!
