History of Down Gilead Lane
Since 1942, the Children’s Bible Hour radio program has been reaching kids and their families all over the world with the message of Jesus Christ. From the early days of the “Four Uncles and Aunt Bertha” to “Uncle Charlie”, it has always been our goal and desire to follow God’s leading in adapting our radio programs to accomplish our mission.
In more recent years, the Lord made plain to us the need to update our programming. We began to add to our staff: writers, producers, acting talent and more. Our goal was simple: produce a compelling program for today’s kids and families that will draw them into a life-changing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
The result of this effort was Down Gilead Lane, a 25-minute radio weekly dramatic program that, focus groups indicate, will be compelling for both kids and their families. The characters in Gilead, though humorous and far from perfect, show us the need for God’s amazing Grace in our every day lives.
Since the first weekend Gilead aired on March 3, 2001, we have received hundreds of heart-felt comments from listeners all over the country. The Lord is using this program to touch and change lives, and we are overwhelmed with thankfulness. Please join us as we walk Down Gilead Lane and find the miracle of God’s Grace.
From Down Gilead Lane to Beyond Gilead
In order to continue with Down Gilead Lane and fulfill our contract with its original author, we needed a new name. Thus, Seasons 1-6 kept the Down Gilead Lane name, and Seasons 7-12 were renamed to Beyond Gilead.
